The paving sand is used as a base for brick paving and this sand is screeded or leveled off prior laying of pavers and is usually put on top of the compacted crushed limestone sub-base. The pavers can be laid directly on top of the compacted sand for pathways. For building a driveway a crushed limestone sub-base is generally used. Another use of paving sand is using it as bedding sand for pipe work and also use it as filling sand for house and shed pads. The paver sand is also used for filling the joints and cracks between the stone pavers which acts as an interlocking material helping in preserving the integrity and beauty of the paver stones. The paving sand prevents growth of weeds in the paver joints.
