Basically used in agricultural applications, crushed limestone is used as a soil amendment for maintaining the acidity of the soil but also has other specialized applications as well. There is an added advantage of using crushed limestone over river gravel as an aggregate for concrete. The concrete mix has more strength than normal concrete mortar. It is due to the fact that cement is known to bond more tightly to limestone as compared to slick/smooth gravel and the strength is derived from the angular shape of the crushed limestone. It is also very light in weight when compared to cement concrete and requires less amount of concrete mix per cubic yard.
